What this covers

This policy covers the snug iOS and Android apps and the mobile notification service operated by the snug team. Each snug server is run by its operator. Your identity belongs to that server, and its operator controls the data stored there. The website privacy policy separately covers snug.chat, purchases, and licensing.

Your snug server

The server receives your nickname, account and device credentials, device name, messages, reactions, votes, plans, files, and profile photo when you use those features. It also receives read positions, notification preferences, and activity such as joining or leaving a call. These records support the features you use and are associated with your account on that server.

Messages and shared files are stored on that server. Voice, camera, and screen-sharing media pass through it during a call. snug does not record calls, but other participants or a modified server may do so. snug is not end-to-end encrypted. The server operator can access the data it handles, including network addresses, and controls its backups and retention.

On your device

The app saves device credentials in protected system storage. Preferences, recent conversation history, queued messages, and selected or incoming files are kept locally so you can return to your conversations or finish a send. The app excludes its credentials and conversation cache from cloud backup. A file you export to another app becomes subject to that app's storage and sharing rules.

Microphone, camera, photo, screen-sharing, and notification access follow your device's permission choices. Change them in system settings. Choosing a file or sharing one into snug stages it locally; sending it uploads it to the selected snug server.

Notifications

When you enable notifications, the app registers an installation or delivery identifier with the snug push service. The service uses Apple's Push Notification service on iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android. These services receive delivery identifiers and technical information needed to deliver notifications, such as network addresses and timing.

On Android, Firebase can create a per-installation identifier and receive app and device information during startup, before you allow notifications. Disabling notifications does not delete that Firebase installation identifier. See Firebase's privacy information.

Your snug server encrypts notification content for your device before sending it through the relay. The relay forwards the encrypted content; it does not have the key to read message previews. Your device decrypts the preview for display. This protection applies to push delivery and does not make conversations end-to-end encrypted.

The relay uses expiring delivery routes and keeps temporary request-rate counters. It does not maintain a member directory or a message archive. Apple and Google handle delivery under their own privacy policies. You can disable notifications in system settings or manage notification preferences in snug.

Optional media and support

GIF search sends your search text and snug server origin directly to KLIPY; it also receives your network address. GIF images load from the provider's servers. KLIPY's privacy policy describes search and viewing history, personalization, and advertising uses.

Watching YouTube opens its embedded player, which receives the selected video, playback requests, your network address, and browser information. YouTube follows Google's privacy policy, which also describes advertising and personalization. Opening other links takes you to the service you choose.

Send feedback delivers your note and nickname to that snug server's admins. If you contact the snug team by email, we receive what you choose to include and use it to respond. Avoid including private messages or files unless they are needed to explain the issue and you have permission to share them.

Retention and deletion

Server data remains with that snug server until it is deleted under the server's controls or retention policy. Your account on one snug server is separate from accounts on other servers. Open Settings, then Account, to see the deletion action and its confirmation for the connected server; delete your account lists what it removes and what to do without a signed-in device. Forgetting a server on this device removes the local connection; it does not delete the server account.

The server operator controls backups. Copies that another member downloaded or sent to an independent service are outside the app's control. Ask the operator about backup retention. To ask the snug team about data it handles, contact admin@feltorg.com. This contact does not give the snug team access to an independently hosted server.

Advertising, rights, and contact

The snug app does not send app-usage analytics to the snug team. We do not sell your personal information. Optional third-party media has the separate data flows described above.

You may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data under applicable law. For data on a snug server, contact its operator. For the snug team's services, contact admin@feltorg.com. We may update this policy when practices change; the date above identifies this version.
